millennial dads have pathetic DIY skills compared to baby boomers

"Millennial dads are less likely than their boomer counterparts to be able to change a car tire on the side of the road, unblock a toilet or sink, reset a tripped circuit breaker or even open a stuck pickle jar with their hands.

The new survey, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Alarm.com, found that modern dads’ toolkits have declined too.

Many millennial dads reported not owning a cordless drill (46%), a stepladder (49%), a set of screwdrivers (38%) or even a hammer (32 percent) — an item owned by 93% of boomer dads."
while it's true that cars these days are a lot more complicated than before, at the minimum, you should still know how to change a car tire right? nothing much has changed here.

bubble tea fad - health + environmental hazard

i really hate this bubble tea craze we are seeing now.

not only an over-priced junk, it's also detrimental to the environment.

here's how much junk from one section of the street in ss15, subang jaya, where 9 (at last count) bubble tea shops have popped up like mushrooms after rain.

photo is from facebook/zero waste group.

use once, discard it, then take 100 years to decompose.

to make matters worse, many of these vendors do not allow you to use your own cup/tumbler. reason being?

branding purpose. so that others could see you are trendy and drinking their current hipster over-priced sugary crap.

and this crap has as much sugar as soft drink.

health hazard + environmental hazard all in one neat package.

plastics in food packaging can kill you

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/28/plastics-toxic-america-chemicals-packaging

other than the environmental hazards, you are also killing yourself consuming food packed in plastics.

But when hot products are placed in containers, chemicals from the box can leach into the food and, in turn, our bodies.

There are the more obvious culprits: for example, polystyrene, commonly called Styrofoam, a known carcinogen that’s also an environmental nightmare.

At the very least, the American Academy of Pediatrics urges consumers to avoid three plastics in particular: those that bear within the recycling symbol the numbers 3, 6 and 7.

No 3 is typically found in takeout containers, among other plastic products, and is made from polyvinyl chloride. The concern is that it could release phthalates, a common class of chemical used to make plastic malleable. They can act as a hormone disruptor and may contribute to childhood obesity, cardiovascular disease and interfere with male genital development.

No 6 is often present in takeout boxes too, and, when heated, could release styrene, linked to depression and fatigue. At high doses, it could also affect kidney function.

Finally, No 7, which is often found in large water bottles, may contain BPA, the endocrine disruptor that’s associated with cancer, metabolic disorders and infertility.

puchong chettinad mess

to me, the BEST in klang valley.

curries are flavourful. really like the salted fish curry.

some selection are favourites like the mango patchadi which i haven't tried at other places.

tasting the mutton varuval here, you can tell their spice blend is different from other banana leaf establishments.

tried their special once, goat head curry. the bits and pieces of cheek, tendon and the extra gamey flavour plus spices.... oh my... toe curling good!

did i mention they only open on week days? 😬
on certain holidays, they do specials like the below.
tried their chicken biryani once and the spices really make the dish.

a few comments though.
  • only available on weekdays. 😱😱😱😱😱 arghhhh!!!! can't get my fix on weekends.
  • not enough specialities. how about bone marrow? goat stomach curry?
  • such a long queue! have to go there early, say 1130am. otherwise will queue from downstairs.
obviously i'm just being an asshole.

highly recommended!
